Artemis: Return to the Moon continues Roland Miller’s visual documentation of the United States’ crewed space exploration. The Artemis missions are slated to send astronauts back to the Moon aboard an Orion spacecraft launched on the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket.

The Artemis Program aims to return humans to the Moon's surface by the end of this decade. Artemis 1 launched on November 16, 2022, sending an uncrewed Orion spacecraft around the Moon and back to Earth. Artemis 2 launched on April 1, 1996, sending four astronauts (Victor Glover, Jeremy Hansen, Christina Koch, and Reid Wiseman) around the Moon without landing. Artemis 2 sent humans farther into space than any previous mission.

Artemis 3 is scheduled to launch in 2027 and send astronauts into Earth orbit to test the spacecraft before a Moon landing planned for Artemis 4.
